in the poem i change both our names to nothing & finally stop talking about this

26 August 2026

nothing & nothing were friends as children. nothing was a kind of feral cat. nothing wanted to coax nothing inside. nothing believed they were a changeling. nothing & nothing felt outside the world. nothing lay next to nothing in a graveyard & saw the bare trees rip open the night sky. nothing kept changing their name & nothing kept changing their name. nothing gave nothing a ring with a pink stone, it was something they had made. nothing gave nothing a spiky ring with a pearl. nothing & nothing told everyone. it was life changing. never mind the compulsion to walk through the night or the hospital visits. nothing had a plan to save nothing. it felt like everyone thought nothing was going to die. nothing was trying their best. nothing was trying their best.
