Live Forever

19 June 2026

When Live Forever comes on at 12:47am during the 90s nostalgia night, you don’t know what to do
Because this was you and your brother’s song, driving around town in his rusty old Vauxhall Nova, Liam Gallagher’s voice blasting through open windows while you sang at the top of your seventeen-year-old lungs.

Now he’s ten years dead and the opening drumbeat throbs in time with your heart.

Do you: a) Push through the dance floor, crowded with bucket-hatted forty and fifty-somethings and go home, getting halfway down the drizzle-soaked street before you’ve realise you’ve forgotten your coat?
b) Retreat to a dark corner, hoping nobody notices your tears?
c) Sling your arms around an ageing Gallagher wannabe, bawling that you’re gonna live forever, because even though it’s not true, if you sing it loud enough you can fool yourself
For four minutes and 36 seconds?
