These products are not meant to be flushed

“These products are not meant to be flushed,” the stall door tells me, accompanied with pictures of an unfolded pad and an unfurled tampon at the bottom of the page, a red line through them both as red as the fresh blood in my underwear, loose eggs soaking up the public restroom fluorescents.

“We were not meant to be flushed,” they would say if they could but my body wasn’t meant to hear blood or hoard the excess until my chest is crowded with yolkless eggs.
